Visiting Ringers

We welcome visitors to the tower for practices and on Sunday mornings. However, it is advisable to confirm that the practice will be going ahead before setting out. If you are intending to visit us with a group for the practice, we will try to accommodate you, but please confirm this with the Tower Captain first.

Visiting Bands for Outings or Quarter Peals

Visiting bands are welcome to ring at the Cathedral. However, the bells are not easy to ring and they are very loud outside. As a guide for ringing tours, Evensong is usually at 5.30pm weekdays and 3.15pm at weekends, and will last for approximately an hour, and we would recommend that organisers allow at an hour for a visit as the bells will need to be raised and possibly lowered again after the visit. Currently, we ask for a donation of £15.00 from visiting bands for outings or Quarter Peal attempts. For further details please e-mail the Tower Captain

Please note for all bookings that plenty of notice is required.

Peal Attempts

We usually allow 4 peal attempts a year, and these are normally rung on Saturday mornings. Generally, there are attempts available in January-February, after Easter-May, August-September and November Bands should be ready to meet at 9.30 in order to start at 10.00am. The attempt must finish by 2.00pm. The current peal fee is £60.00. For further details please e-mail the Tower Captain
